In a single-stage centrifugal fan, the gas enters the impeller from the axial direction, changes radial when the gas flows through the impeller, and then enters the diffuser. In a diffuser, the flow direction of the gas changes and the increase in the section area of the pipe slows the flow. This deceleration converts kinetic energy into pressure energy. The pressure increase mainly occurs in the impeller, followed by the diffusion process. In a multistage centrifugal fan, a refluxer is used to make the air flow into the next blade to produce a higher pressure.
