The characteristics and differences of axial fans and centrifugal fans

The characteristic of the axial flow fan is that the fluid flows along the axial direction of the fan blade. Such as electric fans and exhaust fans in the home. The centrifugal fan is to suck the fluid from the axial direction of the fan and then use the centrifugal force to throw the fluid out from the circumferential direction, such as blower and range hood.

Axial flow fan: large flow rate and small pressure head.

Centrifugal fan: large pressure head and small flow.

The air flow direction of the axial flow fan is perpendicular to the rotation direction of the blades, and the air flow direction of the centrifugal fan is cut to the rotation direction of the blades.

The most important thing to choose what type of fan is to consider the flow rate and system resistance loss

Compared with the axial flow fan, the disadvantage of the centrifugal fan is that it is bulky. Because of the different structure of the two, under the same air volume and the same wind pressure, the power consumption of the centrifugal fan is much larger than that of the axial flow fan, but the noise will be lower. Relatively small, so axial flow fans are mostly used in fire ventilation, and centrifugal fans are mostly used in daily use. Dingda Imported Bearings-Miss Wang In high-end buildings like hotels, many require the use of centrifugal fans first.

Axial flow is the airflow in the same direction as the axis of the blade. Centrifugal, the air flow is thrown out by centrifugal force.

If the flow direction of the wind is parallel to the axis, it is called an axial flow fan, (such as a smoke exhaust fan for firefighting), otherwise it is a centrifugal fan, (such as a fan for a fan coil unit).

The fundamental difference between an axial flow fan and a cabinet centrifugal fan lies in the mechanical structure of the fan:

The diameter of the blades of the axial flow fan is limited to the diameter of the shell, while the centrifugal fan has no such limitation. The blades can be tilted forward or backward, and the requirements for air volume and pressure can be adapted to a wider range. Moreover, the noise reduction treatment can be done in the cabinet, which has obvious advantages in noise indicators. Dingda imported bearings-Miss Wang

Generally, the rotation speed of the motor is relatively low, the power of the motor is high, and the power consumption is relatively high. If the ventilation system is commonly used at ordinary times, try to use a cabinet type centrifugal fan. For systems that are not commonly used for fire-fighting and smoke exhaust, it is more economical and reasonable to use a high-temperature axial flow fan.

Centrifugal fans have more advantages than axial flow fans in the combination selection of large air volume and large air pressure (mainly referring to fan efficiency and noise indicators)

The difference between a centrifugal fan and an axial fan is:

1. The centrifugal fan changes the flow direction of the medium in the air duct, while the axial flow fan does not change the flow direction of the medium in the air duct;

2. The former has a large air volume and wind pressure, while the latter has a low air volume and wind pressure;

3. The installation of the former is more complicated, while the installation of the latter is simpler;

4. The former motor and the fan are generally connected through a shaft, while the latter motor is generally inside the fan;

5. The former is often installed at the inlet and outlet of air conditioning units, boiler drums, induced draft fans, etc., and the latter is often installed in the air duct or at the front of the air duct outlet.
